Getting Back to Greatness!

You might have seen this image from We Are Teachers making the rounds on social media. While the word “normal” is subjective, there is no debating that COVID has impacted learning for students at all levels in some way. College students have found their typical college experience of study groups, student life activities, and in-person classes disrupted. The NCTC Libraries would like to extend a very warm welcome back to the entire NCTC community. Here is a short update on some of the ways we are working to make your college experience not just “normal,” but great!

All of our campuses are open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday 8:00 am to noon. All services such as textbook reserves, in-person library and information literacy instruction, group study rooms, photocopying and printing have now resumed! We are continuing our very popular Ask A Librarian service, as well as our presence in the Upswing tutoring platform.

Gainesville
The Mary Josephine Cox library on the Gainesville campus has gotten a facelift. It now has enhanced lighting provided by brand new skylights. Students who prefer to study individually now have access to eight single-person study rooms conveniently located in the middle of the library. Study groups can utilize one of two large group study rooms, or one of the two new smaller glass group study rooms located on the left side of the library.

Bowie
The Bowie campus Library will be getting spooky on Saturday October 16th when they host their Haunted Library for the campus Trunk or Treat event! There will be lots of free/low cost fun for the entire family!

Corinth
The Corinth campus library has recovered from the February winter storm! The Corinth campus Library is also pleased to welcome the Student Success Center! Students seeking in-person tutoring can now get help in the library. Convenient!

Flower Mound
The Flower Mound campus Library looks forward to seeing everyone at the Wellcome Week event being held October 4th and 5th on that campus.

Denton
Our fabulous Bowie librarian Miranda Pena is offering face-to-face research assistance to our Denton students on Fridays from 8:00am until noon. Students are helped on a first-come, first-served basis, but appointments are also welcome! Enter on the side of the building closest to the parking garage, and look for the sign that says “Ask A Librarian.”

We have already helped so many students this semester. Everyone is so eager to make this the best year yet (knock on wood) and it shows. Go Lions!
